Windows Server Instance Licensing on MTN Cloud

Before You Start (Prerequisites)

• Ensure you have valid MTN Cloud credentials with administrative or provisioning permissions.Tip:If you don’t see your instances under provisioning, contact support or refresh the portal.
• Deploy or possess a Windows Server Instance (Version 2019, 2022, or 2025) within your environment.
• Confirm Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) or MTN Cloud console access is configured for the target instance.

The Right Sequence

• Check your specific version: Run this in PowerShell/CMD (Administrator)DISM /online /Get-CurrentEdition(It likely says ServerStandardEval)
• Run the Conversion Command: Use the Generic Key below that matches your target version (Standard or Datacenter).DISM /online /Set-Edition:ServerStandard /ProductKey:<GENERIC_KEY> /AcceptEula
• Activate Windows:After the server reboots, it will be a full “Standard” edition (no longer Eval). You can now activate it with your real BYOL keyslmgr /ipk <YOUR_REAL_LICENSE_KEY>
