Getting Started with MTN Cloud

👋 Welcome to MTN Cloud

MTN Cloud offers secure, scalable, and local cloud computing infrastructure designed for Nigerian enterprises, government agencies, and developers. Whether you're migrating business-critical applications, building a new platform, or testing development environments — MTN Cloud gives you full control with a modern self-service experience.

This guide walks you through everything you need to log in, configure, secure, and prepare your MTN Cloud environment for success.

🔑 1. Logging in for the First Time

Once your organization is onboarded to MTN Cloud, you will receive a welcome email with the following details:

• 🌐Portal URL: https://cloud.mtn.ng
• 👤Username: Your registered email address
• 🔐Enter Password: Use the password provided in your welcome email

👉 First-Time Login Steps (for the Account Admin):

1. Go to https://cloud.mtn.ng/login
2. Enter your credentials and click Sign In
3. You will land on the MTN Cloud dashboard

👤 2. Updating Your User Profile (for the Account Admin)

Menu Path:Profile Icon (top-right) → "My Profile"

Here, you can:

• Update your display name, email, and contact number
• Set your time zone and language preferences
• View recent login sessions and API token access

🔐 3. Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Two-Factor Authentication adds a critical security layer to your MTN Cloud account. It prevents unauthorized access even if your password is compromised.

📲 How to Enable 2FA:

1. Click your profile icon → "My Profile"
2. Navigate to the Security tab
3. Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
4. Scan the QR code using any supported authenticator app:
   • Google Authenticator
   • Microsoft Authenticator
   • Authy
5. Enter the 6-digit OTP shown in the app
6. Click Confirm

🏢 4. Understanding the MTN Cloud Environment

MTN Cloud uses a multi-tenant architecture that allows multiple organizations to securely share the same infrastructure while maintaining complete data isolation.

Key Concepts:

Multi-Tenant Architecture

Each tenant has its own secure boundary — resources, users, billing, and quotas are isolated. This is ideal for:

• Enterprises with multiple departments
• Managed Service Providers
• Resellers or software vendors

👥 5. Adding and Managing Users (For Admins)

Menu Path: Administration → Users

Add a New User:

1. Click + Add User
2. Enter:
   • Full Name
   • Email Address
   • Role (Admin, DevOps, Viewer, etc.)
   • Assign to a Group (if applicable)
3. Click Save

The user will receive a secure invitation email with login steps.

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC):

• Fine-grained permission per user
• Limit access to compute, storage, billing, etc.
• Enforce policy compliance across departments

💰 6. Understanding MTN Cloud Billing

MTN Cloud offers flexible pricing, transparent usage metering, and Naira-based billing, eliminating FX exposure.

What's Billable:

• Compute (vCPU & RAM) by the Month
• Block storage (per GB/month)
• Object storage (per GB/month)
• Public IPs and snapshot storage
• Managed services (e.g. app templates)

Menu Path: Operations → Reports → Usage

Export CSV/PDF reports for finance reconciliation and internal chargeback.

🧾 Billing Models:

• Pay-As-You-Go: Track real-time usage
• Prepaid Bundles: Ideal for projects with fixed budgets
• Enterprise Commitment Plans: For large-scale deployments

📡7. Networking & Public Access

Every VM deployed on MTN Cloud receives a private IP address by default.

To Assign a Public IP (at a cost):

1. Go to your VM instance
2. Open the Networking tab
3. Click + Add Floating IP
4. Assign from available IP pool

Managing Firewalls:

• Use Security Groups to allow/block ports (e.g., SSH, HTTP, RDP)
• Each VM can have multiple security groups
• Define rules by IP range, port number, and protocol
